I read a question last Thursday focused on the best teaching method for helping language learners to acquire or learn a second language. I was thinking about it and trying to figure it out but only one thing came up to my mind: there was not.
I do not have enough experience on this topic but based on my own short experience I may say that teachers have to be ecletic, using different methods that will vary according to the level, the skills, the size of a class, students' needs, among other. Each student has his or her own learning style and they are simply too different and unique. For these reasons, I think it is imposible that just one method can be the best.
You are absolutely right, Lisbeth!
ReplyDeleteWe are living a "Post-Methods Era". There is no perfect method. As you said, our students are very diverse. Therefore, a conbination of methods is the best choice.
